A shipbroker is an intermediary between shipowners and charterers. The broker’s responsible to connect cargo with suitable vessels, negotiate charter terms, and support both parties throughout the pre-fixture and post-fixture process.

Freight is the cost paid to the shipowner for transporting cargo. It directly affects delivery expenses, as it depends on distance, vessel size, rate loading & discharging, and market conditions.

FOB, CIF & CFR incoterms used in delivery cargo, determine of the responsibility of each party.
FOB (Free on Board) seller delivery only on board vessel.
CIF (Cost, Insurance & Freight) seller pays for the cost, marine insurance, and freight to shipowner for deliver the goods to the buyer’s destination port
CFR (Cost and Freight) means the charterers pays for the transport of goods to the destination port, but the buyer/owner is responsible for insurance of cargo.

Demurrage is a fee the charterer pays if the vessel is loaded/discharged longer than the allowed laytime.
Dispatch is a bonus the shipowner pays the charterer if loading or unloading is finished earlier than agreed.
